I guess it depends on how you present yourself. I have had two years of experience teaching in hogwons added to a public school ESL teaching license in the States, and my attendance at KOTESOL events was accepted for CEUs for license renewal.

I'm in my 30's and have experience in Korea, nonetheless, my background is foreign language education. I'm currently in an MAT program and able to get a provisional education license now. When I finish the program, I'll have certification and the Master's Degree as well as professional experience, as I should be able to find a job teaching French/Spanish/TESL this August.

Whether I would enjoy teaching in public schools, that's another point.

If I were the OP, I, too, would consider a master's degree in teaching. You could have a least something to fall back on.

Perhaps the key is to be licensed or certified at home BEFORE your Korean experience. (I had a license in New York that I never taught on and after spending time in Korea received a reciprocal license from North Carolina with the Korean experience on it.)
