Sorry to hear you were treated badly.

On another note. Quit trying to get around the swear filter, folks. Its against the rules. Splitting words in two or adding * in the middle of a word is not allowed. Thanks.

Sister, i don't associate rudeness with age, race, or what-have-you. when i am treated in such a way by another, i try to remain clam and give back absolutely nothing. why validate trash? it's not easy, but in the long run i feel less negative energy. it's kinda like dodging a bullet made of crap.

in the case of your example however, i might find myself opting for a match statement such as, "beep off!" Embarassed

Jeez. Lets pick on the fat people now!! Confused There's never an excuse to push past someone. Even if they are fat! An 'excuse me' in English or Korean should always be used to allow the person a chance to move. You're advocating pushing fat people out of the way??? Who's the rude person here??

I'd go with, 'don't sweat the small stuff'. Yes she was rude and a bit of a dickhead but then maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she has a bad hip, maybe, maybe, maybe... was the 5 seconds you saved worth the emotional aggrevation? Why not just stop behind them, take a look around, enjoy the moment while the escalator whisks you to your destination.

Not directed at you inparticular SisterSarah, people just seem so preoccupied with 'being right'. These are my rights and I WILL assert them, is it that much of a big deal to go, 'these are my rights, but ya know what, there's no loss of face if I don't exercise those rights right at this moment' Nobody has beaten you, no one has gotten the better of you, the world won't look down on you.

Enjoy the important things and don't sweat the small stuff.

You can swear, just not in American English.

Koreans are NOT worried you'll pollute them if you touch!

Thats funny! How often have you been on a bus or the subway and seen an extra spot next to a foreigner that Koreans wont sit in?

I think Koreans can be very kind people but at the same time they are some of the most thoughtless people I have ever seen.

Some people are adults, many people are immature...age doesnt always make a difference between the two.

While swearing may be fun and at times necessary I for one am glad that Daves does not allow such language. It is an island of sanity amongst a sea of insanity.

i kind of take offense to that comment, dispatched......
my point IS, the left side is for walking up, so a common "excuse me" shouldn't have been a problem.
i don't think her direct attack was a "small thing" ... in my three years here, i ALWAYS walk up the escalator (unless of course it's too busy and there's a walking jam) and i've said "excuse me" to countless people (95% korean) and no one has had a problem with moving over. usually they didn't realize they were standing still on the wrong side and APOLOGIZED for that!

so you're saying every time you want to get through or around something or someone you just wait around so you don't bother them? please! you'd never get anywhere! and i don't think this issue was about "my right" to walk up the escalator, it was about her being a rude bitch.
