It's pretty cut and dried. If you don't want to wear latex gloves on your operations with the tots, and want to suck your fingers, it's your responsibility to keep presence of mind amidst cleanliness hysteria to recall correctly which finger remains pristine/squeaky clean suitable for sucking.
Who'd want to give up finger sucking, especially while teaching class? |

Try wearing latex gloves around your place for a few hours. You might find that the way your hands feel after that will tell you all you need to know about whether you could stand doing that every day for classes.
My guess is that it gets very uncomfortable and hard on your hands.
