Off topic-sorry

Hey, stalinsdad, this is the first I've heard of these missing kids, can you pull an RR and post a news link- or perhaps just explain it- this is really interesting in a morbid way.

Maybe she posioned his mother or kid. far fetched I know, but how does the average hungover waegook with next to no grasp of Korean understand the cause and effect....?

I reckon she slipped cyanide into oma's gimchi and intentionally turned the fan on as he was falling asleep.

I think you handled it just right. You stopped the abuse. You didn't put yourself into the problem.

You are probably misinterpreting your boss's reaction, though.

I'm limited in time but here is one link.
I'm not sure now but a while ago McDonalds also had pictures of missing kids.

http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200410/31/200410311702346709900091009112.html

I'm sure this is the tip of a very large iceberg!!!

If you do the math 100????kids missing per year 50% found rate, over 10 years=500 kids

Also the missing programme on I think a Saturday night!

"I know plenty of people and can think of plenty of circumstances where someone deserves to have the crap kicked out of them."

Indeed. And I fail to see how the gender of the person being beaten makes it any more unnacceptable. People say that it is always wrong to beat a woman, presumably because women are physically weaker than men. Surely, then it is also wrong to beat up small, weedy men, even when provoked.

In Canada, police can press charges and usually do, whether or not the spouse wants them to or not. The problem is getting the spouse and witnesses to give statements and testifying.

Any neanderthal that thinks it is acceptable to beat someone unconcious with an umbrella is f*cked in the head. What the hell is wrong with you people? Violence is never the answer and violence against women is a serious problem around the world. It is also a HUGE problem in Korea.
Honestly, words fail me how insensitive some of the comments have been. How anyone can defend cowards like that is beyond me.
Trevor Collins and bigverne, you two clowns need to get a life and take some sensitivity training. As well, f*cking grow up.

I had a friend in university who has a German Canadian father and a Japanese Canadian mother and is the spitting image of Richard Gere.

Who's defending anyone?

I just pointed out that, in extremes, violence is acceptable. Unless you are a pacifist, very few people would argue against this.

Beating people for no reason is wrong, irrespective of gender.

And the fact is that you have absolutely no idea of the reasons behind the domestic in question.

Either you believe that violence is always wrong or you don't. Gender shouldn't come into it.

Blame it on the kimchi. Koreans in general have a hard time reigning themselves in when it comes to emotion. Anyone who has been here longer than a week can see that. If you're teaching at a hagwon and you see a kid burst into tears because he's dropped his eraser on the floor, you know trouble is probably brewing in the future.

As much as I detest the West's reactionary, get-in-touch-with-your-feelings/treating kids as though they're a volatile danger (and please don't kill me) mumbo-jumbo, it's perhaps a little effective, and could be useful for Korean children.

Thankfully there are no guns. Jesus, imagine if there were.

Actually you'll notice that niether of our posts were based around calling other people names and cursing like a little kid having a tantrum in the schoolyard.
So tell me, who needs to grow up again...?
If you're such a smart guy, tell me what were the circumstances behind the guy laying into his wife....? No idea, huh? Then how are you in a position to judge him anymore than you're in a position to judge us for saying people should know the circumstances before they jump to possibly wrong conclusions...?
