I agree...Your demands are not that unreasonable.
Don't settle for anything less. Don't give in. Anything and everything can be negotiated. The key is to stay firm and don't lessen your standrads.
My first experience teaching in Korea was with ECC...They pretty much towed the line and did what they promised.....
Also you might want to consider posting your resume, along with your requirements in the job wanted section of this board.
Best Wishes,
NK |

1.8Mil? really? I didnt apply for anything less than 2mil... call me greedy...
My specifications were a little more detailed! I wanted a certain area, a certain age group, min 2mil, I had no experience in teaching and I got 5 offers in 2 weeks. I considered all jobs, but if I could find one that suited my exact needs then I would take it... and after speaking with the previous teacher, I did! (Given that 2 of the offers were for Seoul which wasnt where I wanted to live).
You really can afford to shop around! |

After getting played by a few shady recruiters/directors, I too sent out cover letters with very specific demands/requests. My reasoning was, if they treat me like dirt when I'm being flexible, can it get any worse if I'm pig-headed? The answer was, of course, no.
I have no teaching experience, and aside from a little work in tutoring, publishing, and journalism, I have nothing resembling qualifications. But, I was able to spin what little I had, and my BA in English, into something.
Also, you might want to (reasonably) overshoot your true demands. That is, say something like "I'm looking for 2.2 million won p/m and would like to teach in ____-gu, Seoul." You might get a response like "Well, I can get you 2.1 . . . " which'd be more than you anticipated any way.
If you're still stuck later, I had good luck with ATC recruiting.
Best of luck. |
