roughly half appear to be re-newing (THAT MEANS THEY WILL STAY AT THE SAME SCHOOL FOR A SECOND YEAR).
sorry for the CAPS, but some people think you can re-new with GEPIK by moving schools. impossible, as the contracts we have are clearly made with schools, and not with GEPIK.
GEPIK ain't that bad. there are some real teething problems, (all down to what kind of principal you have), but its better than a hagwon, where many GEPIK'ers have worked before.

Yes it is definately a step up from hogwan hell.

It is just very frustrating at times especially if your expectations are/were higher.

Some people are leaving for very different reasons. Some came over to experience Korea and have done so, some have better offers on the table and GEPIK is making no attempt to entice people to stay, myself I just need a decent vacation and 3 weeks just isnt enough time IMO to go back home and spend the time I want with the people I miss.

The biggest problem for me is the downtime...finishing teaching at 1:00 but having to stay at school til 5:00. 2-4 hours of prep every day is excessive. I prep up what I have to do and it takes me about 2 hours a week to be fully prepared for all of my classes. I usually put in an extra 2 hours + to try to flesh out/supplement the material but that still leaves a hell of alot of time sitting around.

Where are all these teachers going?

I finished a GEPIK contract at the end of February and I went home (Australia). 4 years teaching in Korea was enough for me.

I would consider coming back but only if they doubled my last salary.
