Camel riding? So we'd be near the Gobi at least part of the time?

I'll be at Huvsgul for at least the first week of Aug and I have one more week. Huvsgul is really nice in case you don't know.

Getting to the Gobi is a little tough. A plane can get you half way there and then i think 200 miles by jeep

We could do a pissup/GT at UB at least.

Quote:
Gurvansaikhan National Park
Unlike other national parks in the Gobi Desert, the Gurvansaikhan contains notable attractions, and the facilities - ger camps and roads - are reasonably good. The park contains mountains, dinosaur fossils, extraordinary sand dunes, rock formations and a valley that has ice for most of the year.

The park is home to over 200 species of birds, including the Mongolian Desert Finch, Cinerous Vulture, Desert Warbler and Houbara Bustard. The sparse vegetation manages to support black-tailed gazelle, snow leopard, ibex, argali sheep and endangered species of wild camel.

I'm jealous. Wish I could join you guys. I loved the place.

I never made it down to the Gobi (stayed more north) but I recall reading that the drive from UB to Omnigovi was "a bone-cruching 20 hour bus ride."

!!!!!!

Worth it, I'm sure.

Have fun (Khovsgol Nuur rules).
