There's this dish that's just like samgyetang but barbecued rather than broiled, so you have a crispy chicken stuffed with rice and ginseng and stuff. I've forgotten the name of it - does anyone know?

Besides kalbi, mulnengmyon, and dwenjangjigae, I also like bossam jongsik. Or any kind of jongsik.

Actually I like pretty much every kind of Korean food, and every kind of non-Korean food too.

I didn't know there was such a thing. Chicken ribs. I know they have ribs, unless a translation for kalbi is bone?

They (jay-yook-deop-bab) from the random restaurant next to my college and nowhere else. Well, not really, but they blow any other jay-yook I've had so extremely, and I truly am mystified every time I inhale a bowl of it.

I'm looking for a random pic of jay-yook right now, but they all pale in comparison to the stuff my place whips up... I'm gonna have to take a digipic of that sweet, sweet heaven tomorrow.

Ah... and pretty much all the other usual stuff that everyone else said.

Amen. Anything with "galbi" at the end is heaven. I can't believe I used to be vegetarian. Love the BBQ's and will make sure to get my dose of them back home.
There was one time when I lost my appetite for galbi. A bunch of my friends and I ordered Pork Galbi from this one small country restaurant. The kind ajoeshi looked at our big table and with a big, triumphant smile, announced something in Korean, and went out the back door. Then my Korean friend translated for us, "he said that they ran out of pork, so if you would all be so kind to wait while he gets a fresh slaughtered pig from the nearby farm."

It's called Dak-galbi but it's not done on a grill. Rather a large pan set into the table. To the raw chicken is added lots of leafy greens, duk-bokki and hot pepper paste. Mix it all up and cook for 10 minutes. Great! But it can be the spiciest thing you will eat in Korea. WARNING!!

Then there's the recent innovation. Bul-dak. It's marinated, spicy, boneless chicken bits done on a regular galbi grill. Also very spicy.

My new favorite is Dae Gu Bae Gi JJim. It's a spicy chunk of cod covered in sauteed bean sprouts. It's not hot at first but the more you eat the worse it gets, but then they serve a lot of side dishes that kill the heat pretty fast. Just watch out for the bones.

Dahk-gahl-bee does kick ass. One of the older chain places is called "Choon-chuhn Dahk-gahl-bee". Other favourites? Juhn-gohl. Bee-bihm-mahn-doo and Tahng-soo-mahn-doo from the Jahng-ooo-dahng chain. Chohn-dahk. Deh-jee-gook-bahp. Kohng-nah-mool-gook. Gihm-chee-bohk-ihm-bahp, depending on the gihm-chi. Jae-yook's really good, too. Soh-goh-gih. Dohl-soht-bee-bihm-bahp. Gahl-bee-tahng. Sahm-gyeh-tahng. Korean-style(spicy) schaah-beu schaah-beu. Yuhn-tahn-gahl-bee. Christ! I haven't had dinner yet...

Kimpab's pretty amazing. It's cheap, you can bring it to work, and eat it all day which is what I do. Grab a few rolls on the way in the morning.

this is a true story.

one day, i noticed this sentence, "last weekend, i went out and had a rasberry sundae with banana cream ice cream" while reading my junior high english text book.

i was probably 14 years old. i thought to myself, "wow, american people love sundae too!!!!...but why on earth would they make it with rasberry???"
