Just go to one of those countries and get a vacation and a wife for free, no problemo.

Interesting story, Derreck. Actually, a buddy of mine back home married a Filipina woman this way. He had done a lot of traveling at one time and he spent some time in the Phillipines. He just loved Filipina girls. Not just their appearance, but also the fact that most were super-friendly and down to earth. Anyway, he ended up doing the mail order bride thing. I actually met her when I was back home last year. Holy cow! The girl was absolutely gorgeous. I tell you, though, they are really happy together. It's a good marriage. They're expecting their first child soon. I know a lot of people may knock this kind of thing but a lot of the time it works really well.

Tough one.

Chinese however.. the women seem to really stand by their man.. really loyal (although I've heard Shanghai is the exception), really money-conscious in a good way - meaning saving their money (whereas Vietnamese women would rather spend now and save later).

That's funny you mention loyalty. My last girlfriend was Chinese from Shanghai. We broke up a almost two months ago. She broke up with me because I didn't find a new job fast enough for her and my job wasn't "good enough". I agreed to find a another job within a year (I should never have made that promise), but after two months she didn't want to wait anymore. Whatever happened to patience, loyalty, support and standing by your man? She's just a student, too, so why the rush? I work as an accountant, but not for a large company. It's a decent and stable job, but I don't want to stay there forever and I want to find the best fit for me. Patience is supposed to be a Chinese virtue, right? NOT!

I definitely agree with you on the money saving part. She was very cheap and very good at saving money, including my money. When we'd go out to eat, she'd insist on only going to Wendy's and getting something from the dollar menu. She was proud of it too. Not only that, she refused to let me buy something unless I really needed it and only if it was on sale. She saved me a lot of money (I had a Brazilian girlfriend before her and she blew all my money away). On the other hand, she wasn't the cleanest person in the world, she'd take stuff (like furniture, stuffed animals, covers, etc.) out of people's trash and keep it for herself and it really bugged me that her psycho Chinese gangster wannabe ex-boyfriend stalked her. Man, those guys are possessive and bitter and such losers. It's a shame it didn't work out with her because she really managed money well and she was great for most of the time.

Even so, I'd still go with Chinese women. I don't find Vietnamese girls that attractive. But after the last episode, I don't want to get married anymore, however I'd marry a Chinese girl for the thriftiness factor. Never one from Shanghai, though!

By the way, TB, I've read a few posts that you've been to Brazil and loved it there. I've been there too on several occasions and loved it! But I'd never date a girl from there again.

I've heard that a lot about Shanghai! Would be an interesting place nontheless.

Where were you in Brazil? (Not to throw off the topic too much, but I am curious). Great place.

It's a mixed bag...some really hot Chinese and some really ordinary ones too..got to go for Vietnam cause there are a lot of hot mixed blood there left over from the Vietnam War...but most of all when I think of Vietnam I think of Phuong in Graham Greene's "The Quiet American" most sensuous chick in all of literature...
