Where the Buffalo Roam: Bill Murray as Hunter S.

The Razor's Edge: Many think Lost in Translation was Bill Murray's first dramatic role. But this early '80s gem was his first.

Quick Change: Another Bill Murray flick. A comedy but a bit surreal.

Attack of the killer tomatoes.

Good movie, but it was Jane Fanda (Sally Field was busy doing 'The Flying Nun' at the time) and the dance marathon took place in the 1930's.

Lots of "obscure" movies listed. that aren't obscure, but maybe these really will be obscure:

Leaving Normal
Starring: Maury Chaykin, Patrika Darbo, James Gammon, Christine Lahti, Meg Tilly, Lenny Von Dohlen
Directed by: Edward Zwick

Fell in love with Meg Tilly and was amazed by both Tilly and Lahti. I don't think Lahti was at all well-known at the time. It was after this she started getting some fame.

1000 Pieces of Gold

Fabulous movie. Had the luck to catch it at a film festival where the makers were there for an audience immediately afteward. The cinematography in the dark interiors was amazing.

a k a Thousand Pieces of Gold
1991 - USA - Romantic Drama/Period Film
Running Time: 105 minutes Starring: Michael Paul Chan, Rosalind Chao, Chris Cooper, Dennis Dun, Jimmie F. Skaggs
Directed by: Nancy Kelly

PLOT DESCRIPTION
Produced on a shoestring $2 million budget, documentary director Nancy Kelly and her husband, editor Kenji Yamamoto created this romantic western based on a true story. Rosalind Chao stars as Lalu Nathoy, a young woman sold into marriage by her impoverished father in late 19th century China. Lalu is transported to the U.S. by a slave trader, Jim (Dennis Dun),... ...deliver Lalu to Hong King (Michael Paul Chan), a saloon owner in a rough Idaho mining town. Refusing to participate in Hong King's plan to make her into an exotic prostitute, Lalu keeps her dignity about her and wins the adoration of Charlie (Chris Cooper), Hong King's white, alcoholic partner.

Red Baloon

But it's not really obscure. Just old and French, so perhaps not known to a lot of us English speaking folk.

The Red Balloon

a k a Le Ballon Rouge
1956 - France - Family - Oriented Adventure

Type: Features
Rating: NR (Child Classic)
Running Time: 34 minutes
Starring: Pascal Lamorisse
Directed by: Albert Lamorisse

PLOT DESCRIPTION
Most of French director Albert Lamorisse's films celebrate the miracle of flight, but few were as landmark as his 1956 short subject The Red Balloon. The story, told without dialogue, concerns a little boy (played by the director's son Pascal) who comes across a helium-filled balloon. As he plays with his new acquisition, the boy discovers that the balloon seemingly has a mind of its own.

Man bites dog

Its a belgian mockumentary following a french serial killer. It's gory and full of pretty dark humour, similar to Natural born Killers i guess but with the over the top b.s
