Definitley go to the Keys but again bring money. Key West is nice but in the winter prices are unblievably high.
Like Chiaa I prefer the west coast, Ybor City is a nice place to party so is St Pete beach there was a bar on the beach there I loved. The beaches are much nicer than the Atlantic side, white sand beaches and much cleaner.
Also recommend the Everglades, fascinating wilderness thats slowly dying, see it before it dries up, take US 41 across instead of I-75/Alligator Alley, one of the most scenic drives in America |
Hmmm, that is my hometown you are talking about.  Miami has it all, including the worst of a lot of things. But it is a vibrant Caribbean city, where you will hear Spanish and Creole before English, and a lot of other languages besides. It ranks with NYC in terms of being an international city, and in terms of being expensive. But you can stay and eat for cheap if you go ethnic.
You are right about the 'glades, but the first question was about "cities". The most recent question about where to get drunk- it's Florida. Anywhere. But South Beach, Ft. Lauderdale and Key West are good bets, especially if you are secure enough about your masculinity to hang where there are gays. Otherwise, stay up north with the crackers.  |

Miami is aight....having lived there for quite a while, it DOES have it all but is only accesible if...
1) you have a car
2) you are loaded
3) hablas espanol
but as far as beautiful beaches or a cool scene go, I would MUCH rather go to Key West. It is so amazingly beautiful and serene...ice cream and pie everywhere and a pretty ok bar area.
If you have money go to Marco Island. It's an amazing beach. If you want waves and sexy biatches in thongs go to the Miami side (Atlantic) if you want serene beautiful calm beaches rock the Gulf of Mexico. The panhandle area is nice.
If you DO end up in Miami, stay around the Hollandale area as it is safer, cleaner, and has a nicer beach area. South beach is cool to hang around at night though.
As far as eats go, I suggest Hialeah and anywhere where women with hairy arms and 'no espikki inglich' abound...they make a MEAN steak and tostones....also, eat pastelitos at bakeries. |
