it would've been better to be less dramatic but more realistic.

Hell yes.
And most of the monologue could have been thrown away.
Didn't Blade Runner teach these people anything?

wow we share something in common.. you Australian? or you a skater?
I have been tucking it under the tongue since I was 12 and a skater!

anyway back to nick cage..
come on he is good!! he has his own unique style as do most actors!!

tell me an actor that has a clean record of great preformances..
nick has never come out and said he is a great actor.. actually I remember him saying he doubts his abilities sometimes.. he does a good job I can think of more worse actors than him.. he makes the kind of movies where you dont need to be anthony hopkins or al pacino to make it a great acting movie..
but he has made his fair share of great actor driven roles..
he is a box office actor, popcorn action man! he is easy to watch!
he gets paid 20million dollars for it.. thats hollywood..
people get lucky and once they get there.. they are there to stay and they get cast in big movies and we have to watch them. either like it or dont! I personally take nick for what he is.. he is not amazing! he is not bad.. he gets the job done..

I saw the movie last weekend. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. So is it actually based on a true story or not?

There weren't any plot twists. There wasn't much interesting action. The best four minutes was the cargo plane situation. Everything else was predictable, including the person who died at the end. It was like a documentary with better cinematography (and worse writing). And at the very end they take a jab at George W Bush that just seemed forced. (They use "he" instead of "the government" or "the White House" to try and accuse Bush personally, instead of all Presidents, of selling arms.) Lame.

****SPOLIER ALERT*****

I was deeply let down, I was excited to this see this movie, some great talent and I like Nic Cage, but the VO was stupid, VO's are the mark of a bad writer because once you have a VO there's no need for a story now is there. Also I found the movie too moralizing, it would have been better if they hadn't tried to make him feel guilty all the time, instead he's setup through most of the movie to feel guilty then at the end he decides to keep doing it anyway, wtf? Also the movie felt like a damned history documentary with him explaining how the Wall feel down and that he worked the corrupt new democracies and how interpol works and the UN blah blah blah. Ethan Hawke, who cares? He wasn't a very good nemesis just boring and dull (and kinda stupid). And finally, the end was a bit over the top explaining how the UN security council is the biggest arms dealer in the world, etc. Most of us knew that and if you didnt ur a dumba**.

Good idea, but poor execution.

Is the end of it tied up?

I don't think there are to many people who could get themselves out of a used condom that has been tied up at the end.

It'd be like being trapped in a rubber room covered in semen. Smelly and mucky.

Good movie, man. I like the way the character just moved through his life being who he was. And the ending; 'the key to survival is to not go to war with anyone, especially yourself'. Then he walks away and the camera drags over an endless litter of bullet casings.
