That Billy sounds like a nightmare!
Seriously though, Tomato has some great advice there. I guess I've been doing a lot of the things mentioned without really thinking about what I'm doing and why it works. |

Thanks all,
Like I said, I just needed to get it all out of my system. I appreciate the advice, but on some days there is no getting through to any of them. I can't stray from my lesson too much, not that it actually gets done anyway. And the thing is, I don't have their attention long enough to actually institute some of these programs or rules. I just feel helpless in there.
There isn't a problem child, I can deal with an isolated group or what have you (as I do in my other kinder class). Most of these kids need special one-on-one help. I physically restrain a few of them while trying with the rest, but its just too much sometimes.
Another teacher told me I care too much. I told her that after that class I feel emotionally dead. I guess I do care too much.
I definitely do much better with my older kids. I will steer well clear of this babysitting stuff next time. But, you know, I still like most of them. Well, some of them. Well, there's one of them that is good. |

My secret is I don't care about the kids. I just do my job, kids might not like me but then they don't pay me to be their friend. |

Hey man becareful when you are restraining kids. Having worked with kids before in situations that called for restraints I can tell you it does not take much to hurt one.
Use your resources in a timely manner. Do everything you can to avoid laying your hands on the little munsters. If you hurt one of them on accident do you really think the parent is going to buy, "I was only trying to make sure (insert appropriate excuse here)!"
Like I said keep your hands off them and get the won jon to deal with them. If not then it is your butt that is going to be on the line, not theirs. |

Just a tip - if you ever have to grab one who's running around, always use two hands or you're likely to spin him around as he does a face-plant. Also, don't try to close the door quickly when one is making a run for it - I had one run face-first into the edge of the door.
Thank-you God that I am no longer teaching any kindie in Korea!!! |
