Firstly thanks for your help with this.

So what I should do with my parents (well actually only my mum) and my little brother (and he's 200 lbs and 27):
wiss James [/b](Surely Swiss Tony is better?) recommended
Get hiking
Go to a hot spring - any recomendations of ones we can all go to together? I'm not sure my 60+ yr old mother is ready for Korean nudity and the staring.
Visit some of the markets

I think we are also going to spend some time in either China or Japan - Has anyone been to Beijing in January? If so is it much colder than here?

Thanks again for all your help.

Dan

Ask her about the hot springs - she may surprise you. But there's a place in northwestern Sokcho where you hafta wear clothes 'cause its mixed gender, but it cost 33,000 won admission (I went to the 5,000 won alternatives, so I can't say any more about it.....) There's a fancy oncheon at Bomun Lake with all the bells and whistles if you get down that way. And I'll always recommend Suanbo (Hi-Spa)- I feel comfortable there.

Beijing's being about the same as Seoul now, but you never know..... You could go to Kyushu - it's warmer (but the only time I was in Kagoshima, way down in the South end of the island - they had 9 inches of snow, the first snow in 12 years.....)

Other places of travelers interest: Seoraksan, Andong (inc. Hahoe), the train trip to Gangneung (long but scenic). Insadong - lots of places to wander around there....

Did you ask her what she'd like to see?
