Real reality; Your employer would be foolish to give you a raise. When you signed or resigned your contract, you agreed to your salary. If you are willing to work for that amount it would be stupid to pay more. Would paying you a higher salary make you a better teacher? Of course not. The only reason to offer a higher salary would be to attract someone who is more qualified to replace you. The reason you stay on in Korea year after year is because you can't find a better position anywhere else in the world. Your service is more highly valued in Korea than it is anywhere else in the world.
If you spent as much time on your PHD as you do on your whining about Korea research, you might make something of yourself. How much of your research has been published in academic journals? Instead of making any effort to improve your situation all you do is whine about how unfair life is.
You are not a real professor. You are a part time adjunct instructor. Instead of comparing your salary to Korean full professors, why don't you compare it to Korean part ime instructors? That's 22,870 w per hour according to the figures you supplied. Don' t you make more than that? If you think you are qualified to be a real professor, why did you agree to take a lesser job? Do universities in the U.S., Canada etc. think you are qualified to be a full professor? If you can't get a real professors job anywhere else in the world , why should you expect Korea to give you one? We all know that Korean Universities have relatively low standards. One of the clearest indications of that is the number of foreigners hired who would be unemployable at the university level anywhere else.

Why is there a law or regulation to prevent foreigners from becoming professors? Is it protectionism? Do you admire and worship Korean professors? Have you heard of Dr. Hwang?

Oh boy... Rolling Eyes

1- There is law in place to limit (or exclude) the number of foreign professors teaching on Korean university campuses.

This law is very similar to those of many other nations when it comes to foreign workers and their access to certain levels in various fields of work. Credentials must be checked. In Canada for example...you have many people from different countries who have had their qualifications erased because the government felt they did not meet requirements. Sometimes this is warranted but overall the law wis there to protect local workers from losing their jobs to foreign workers. Is it right..is it wrong? Not relevant here...the fact is..it is for now, the l-a-w.

2- Is it protectionism?

Duh..ah duh..gee m'a perhaps it is... Laughing

3- Stupid and dumb question RR..but slightly entertaining never the less.

4- Sure...I have heard of that scientist who cheated to get more renown. He is a piece of dirt who cheated. Now..what does that have to do with the pay scale of western teachers in Korea, tenure track or the taste of your kimchi?

Finally...
