I dont appreciate your tone and language madame. Please refrain from using such when directing comments to me. Thanks in advance.

He is just trying to get away with doing as little work as possible. I am sure the district office of education would not agree with his time wasting tactics.

Well then stop making threats against people. What is and isnt' educational in class is a matter between him and his school. So don't lecture me on internet niceties.

If he was trying to get away with as little work as possible then he would have just pressed play. The fact that he came here asking for suggestions to the lesson suggests that he wants to do more than that.

As I said video can be a fun and educational tool for the kids. You can turn something passive into something really active and fun. Which is kind of the point of these camps. That english is supposed to be fun.

So CLG when you show the movies do you show them with or without subs? I'm probably gonna do liar liar with them which is a fun film but I cant see them understanding the words.

I like the idea of the cast list and the dvd cover tasks. Next week we're writing movie scripts and then I'm bringing in the digi camera and they're gonna film their acting Smile

Just a suggestion, but humour is the hardest thing for any language learner to understand. Mainly because of cultural differences, but also intonation, hyperbole, irony, etc.. all come into play. I can't remember Liar Liar well, though Jim Carrey tends to be physical in his humour so it could be a very good choice (Mr. Bean also always goes over well).

Yeah Liar liar is heavy on silly faces and stuff. Its also got a lot of obvious humour in it. Mr Bean is another good one, cause he barely speaks. Hmm perhaps I'll do that one...

Yeah I leave the subtitles on... try and use kids movies though. The language is a lot simpler and often repeats.

I'm sure it's not too difficult to come up with any number of activities using this form of film, television. You can pretty much guarantee the kids will understand the whole episode (around 20min) thus they will be able to answer and participate in any activities the teacher gives them more adequately. Why all the sarcasm bro? It takes a lot more prep time to initialize a movie or series into the classroom, via worksheets, script translationsand activities than it does to pick up a text book you've taught 20 times and give a half azzed lesson cause you're so bored teaching playground equipment and who's dog it is!

I remember back in my school days watching videos at school and doing any number of things associated with that video. why not be constructive and tell the OP what you would do with a video lesson? I think you are just boring. loosen up a bit, maybe your kids would appreciate it??

Ooooooooooooooh I love the goonies!

And we're doing a treasure hunt next week so it fits in perfectly.

Tomorrow is looking like a candy aftermath day, they only had time to make it today tomorrow they eat, review and do the vocab so no movie till next week anyway.

thanks Dan, the Goonies rocks.
