| I have a big heater in my English room. I have full control over it, and make full use of that fact. |

Just be thankful you're not back at a hagwon where you may have to teach
six classes back to back everyday. In my public school postions I have used
my spare time creating expansion activities for the lesson(s) of the following
week. It's nice to be able to take my sweet time with my lesson preparations:
no ten minute rush jobs at the photocopy machine between classes or scrambling
at a book shelf. Concerning the air temperature at public schools, I was fortunate
to have my own well-facilitated and heated classroom, 'The English Zone', this
year. Most of the students would beg me to let them in five minutes before a
class started. They were probably eager to escape from the cold and dank
corridors and regular classrooms during the winter months. But I was glad to
open the door for them especially during the temperate and warm months of the
year, apart from the time my students sought relief by the the air conditioner.
I suspected that they enjoyed coming into a more relaxed learning environment,
where they would prefer to be. |
