psssssssst. This was a baseball GAME. Can we expect to see re-plays of it for the next 4 years?
One more example of how a very large country with a relatively small population acts just like a pretty small country with a relatively large population. Can anyone spell inferiority complex? |
Where is this coming from? Where is this example? The article is the exact same as if the Expos had beat the Yankees in a semi-final round game. There is no over-patriotism in any of the posts either. Heck, the OP's entire point was the writing of the post, not the actual winning of the game. |

Whatever. You should ask yourself instead why you're try to belittle the Canadian teams victory. |

Look at the hand, and then think "shock her". Maybe that will help, as the OP was commenting on the article itself, not the topic |
Laogaiguk,
Many many many years ago, I was watching the CBC live broadcast of the Liberal Leadership convention in which John Turner was chosen as the new Leader of the Liberal Party.
At one point in the convention, a Liberal bigwig -- I think it was Allan McEachern -- made a big song and dance about entering the convention floor and coming over to shake Turner's hand.
David Halton, a journalist for the CBC rushes over and interviews Turner's campaign manager live on TV.
"So", says Halton, "Do you think Mr. McEachern timed his entry just right, or do you think he's shot his wad too early?"
You should have seen the look on the campaign manager's face. I nearly peed my pants laughing. |

Embarrassing? Why? Canada may not have many MLB teams, but baseball remains the most popular summer sport in Canada. I'd take it one step further and say that there are probably more people who play baseball than hockey in Canada. So, again, it's not as if baseball is simply a novelty in Canada. It isn't big business like in the US, but it's not as if Canada lacks the system to produce players. Remember that some of the greatest American baseball players were in the minors in Canada before going to the major leagues. |

For all Canadians still hanging their heads in shame over Olympic hockey results, some of the same reasoning applies here. |

psssssst. Only 3 or 4 Canadians are gloating about it, and suddenly it's the entire nation? Can anyone spell sweeping stereotype? |

Soccer is the most widely played sport in Canada. It eclipsed baseball about 12 years ago. I don't even know people that play any kind of baseball, other than slow-pitch now.
Ya-ta boy always tried to belittle Canada, maybe he has some sort of complex.
The post is about "SHOCKER" |

Ignorant.
We have atricles about the game the day after. In 2 months, nobody will talk about it again.
But maybe some 20 year later we can make a movie a la "Miracle On Ice" Talk about not letting something go!! |

All true. But for a team of MLB all-stars to lose to a team of mostly A and AA players is an embarassment, no two ways about it. By the way, is it true that Wayne Gretzky was scouted by the Blue Jays?

Because I'm American? That could have something to do with it. Ok, in the larger, philosophical, "grown men paid to play a children's game while people kill each other for food in Somalia" way, I don't care.
Jeez. |

You're American? Oh, it's ok then.
From your post, I guess I read too much of an "here's-more-fodder-for-all-of-us-anti-USA-crowd" when I should have been getting a "grown-men-playing-a-childrens-game-but-I'll-keep-routing-for-the-home-team" kind of vibe.
Plus ending ever post with "Jeez" is kind of gay |
