Why the hell would hagwons be closed unless it were on the weekend or on a holiday?

Why the hell are you bothering to reply to this when you clearly know nothing about this meeting?

Because hagwons don't close down for meetings. That's why.

jacl,

Hogwans do close down for meetings. The education department told the hogwans they must close down for the recently held (some places) and upcoming (other places ) meetings. They told the owners that if they found the hogwans open, they would be fined or even closed permanently. No joke.

In our case, since we have NO Korean teachers, we rebelled. We told them we would stay open. A few others were able to stay open as well. In our town, the only hogwans open on the meeting day were those with no Korean teachers. Every other hogwan was closed, by government fiat.

Because you are obviously the person that would decide this? The meeting is in Ulsan, so I think it is the Hagwons in the Ulsan district. 5 English Hagwons in my local area, where my friends, boyfriend and I work are all closed. So Jacl, I get the day off and you are wrong Laughing .
