I believe that Mr. Bin Laden himself understood the consequences of this before he gave the go ahead for 9/11. It was my understating that they considered a nuclear option at that time, but he nixed the idea.
This all makes sense to me; however, if the Koran states that killing 1 million unbelievers and causing 20 million Muslims to be sent to martyr heaven is Glorious, then the US is screwed.

First of all, from where exactly do you think you learned al Qaeda's plans?

Second of all, I have heard a few allegations that they are indeed planning to bring nukes in, although I can't and won't vouch for the sources of those statements.

Third, Nuking the Middle East, except on a genocidal scale, won't do much good against an enemy that hides in civil populations all across the area.

That said, I can see where a mass nuke attack could piss us off enough to try genocide. I don't think it's likely though.

A nuke attack on just a few US cities (and not necessarily the biggest ones either) could devastate the US economy for years. I think if they can pull it off they will. I also doubt that the US will be their only target. I can see where they might attempt to provoke a nuclear war between India and Pakistan, and I can easily imagine them nuking GB or Aus.

Hope I'm wrong and you're right though. That would be nice.

JJ, I hope you are wrong too. Who ever it hit, it would change the world for my lifetime.
