| It's the luck of the draw. Depends on yr director, and whether or not he more closely resembles yr jovial, drunken, generous Uncle Bob or a certain Georgian-born grand mustached Soviet leader of the XX century. You get the "vacation time is for rest" directors or you get the "well we honestly don't have anything for you to do for a few months but rather than admit to not having anything for you to do we're going to invent things like summer camps and winter camps and summer school and winter school to keep you busy and make us feel like we're making you earn your pay, or, if that fails, make you sit around and do nothing, and oh yeah besides I legally can't give ya moren a week in summer and a week in winter despite what you may or may not have been promised by your recruiter before you arrived because, you know, first of all, he was lying, and second I could get axed for letting you off longer than that so looks like your just shidoudaluck" -types. We got the latter. Two weeks. |

The job that I applied to give only 2 weeks... one in the winter, one in the summer. I was surprised, too..
Then again, the job is for an after school programme - hence the 11am start.
I wonder if they will do after school programme during vacation time, too?? |
Why dont you contact the Gangnam-Gu office and try for a job for the district? The pay kicks ass, good working environment, absolutely no crap being pulled on vacation time or pay or anything. |
Oh my god! A daechidong waygookin! |

At my school, summer vacation begins July 18. I have to teach a camp from July 19-August 2 (half-days) after which I'm free to leave until August 27 when classes resume (3 1/2 weeks vacation for summer).
In the winter, there will be no camp. We are closed for half of December and the whole month of January, so I get 6 more weeks then.
My contract is for 10 months - although I get 11 months' pay. Therefore, the total vacation time is more like 4 months, but one month is with no money.
My school has also been great about occasionally letting me go for more than half the day - to handle business at the bank or immigration....
I'm happy here |

Am I the only one that noticed the typo in this thread topic? Where exactly is this pubic school that you are referring to? |

My gig gives me 6 weeks in the winter (last two weeks of December and all of January).
I have half a month in July (14th-30th) and then for the first three weeks of August I can:
a) opt to work and get paid an extra million (moving the salary to 3.5) to do English Camp...
b) opt not to work and take a 500,000 deduction (reducing the salary to 2.0
Then.. the last week of August if off for everyone.
Plus lots of red-days, sports days, test-days, science days, etc. |

I was waiting for someone else to be the immature one.
Probably also the reason this thread has over a thousand views, while threads with twice as many posts only have 600 views. |

| Those two vacation weeks (one in winter, one in summer) you get in public schools, who decides when you take them? Are they scheduled by the school/principal to fit their own school vacation or do you actually get to take twice a year a week off when you feel like it? |

| THey are usually decided by the school schedule. Your vacation would be during school breaks. |
