This is not a propaganda website. It's a "Discussion Forum". What exactly do you think discussion means? If you want a religious (discussion-free) forum, this is not the place. The OP has no right to say that this post is only for Christians.

And as for 'respecting' Christians. Sorry, how can one be expected to respect ignorance and superstition????

You can insist that critics keep away from your church on Sundays. Dave's ESL, however, is not a church. You have to expect open criticism in an open forum.

You have quite the obsession about religion, actually Christianity. Ive seen your posting history. You should take some meds.

The OP specifically said not to read if you are not Christian. Also, the OP didn't insult any athiests or try to push their religion. I don't see any problem with this thread. I'll even wish everyone a happy belated Easter Wink

I can see the point but what about those of us who are spiritually promiscuous and like shacking up with Jesus once in a while? If I start a Canada Day thread and say 'Canadians only need respond' should duel citizens or past temporary residents or people with Canadians in their family be able to join in on the self-referential nationalistic drivel?

I don't know, you would have to ask a Christian Smile

BTW, I would stay far away from duel citizens as they will probably shoot you after pacing 10 steps, while dual citizens (such as myself) will usually be pretty much the same of the country they grew up in Wink

Just joking Yu_bum_suk, I don't really care about spelling mistakes, I just thought that one was cute.

This is a public forum. I'll post here if, for no other reason, to offer a public service. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Religion is intellectually lazy and dishonest, and I object to you selling such nonsense on this website. Your position is "Here's my nonsense...and no criticism please. Can't confuse the cult members with criticism.' Furthermore, it's bad 'manners' to fill people's head with rubbish.

On another point, you state that the study of the sciences, history etc..actually favors Christianity. Wow, I must have got it all wrong. Please explain.

The funny thing is that you seem to think that you are not religious. Rolling Eyes How then, pray tell, did the universe begin? With a big bang? The source of which was what? <insert faith-based (i.e. religious) answer here>

It seems that you haven't had the chance to read works by Christians (or 'religious folk' for that matter) who are educated. Let me give you the opportunity...

This one was written by the Professor of Biology at San Francisco State university. Does your education extend beyond his?
http://aomin.org/specialcreation.html

Another Phd guy:
http://www.reformed.org/apologetics/why_I_believe_cvt.html

An audio debate between an atheist and Christian:
http://www.straitgate.com/gbgs.ram

This one's from a professor of law, responding to Richard Dawkins:
http://www.firstthings.com/ftissues/ft9610/johnson.html

and this one, explaining how faith in science as 'empirically' explaining the origin of life (which it can't and does not), is actually a religion as well.
http://www.reformed.org/apologetics/Richard_Dawkins/barlow_science_a_religion.html

There, and all from the comfort of your chair. No excuses now...

Your posts are interesting, but virtually no scientist accepts these arguments. The Darwin's Black Box book, for example, has been taken apart too many times by every single scientist. It's simply bad science.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I'm not claiming to know the answers to the universe. There are any answers that evade us. What I do know is that organized religion is nonsense. True, it provides a vehicle for spiritual expression and brings comfort to many. But the Easter Bunny brings comfort and happiness to children. When they grow up, however, theyl have to told that he doesn't exist.

For adults to base their life vision on ancient mythology - be it Greek, Egyptian, Celtic or Hebrew - is simple nonsense. Is there an ultimate lifesource out there? Perhaps. But you won't find the answers in ancient superstitions, pillars of salt, talking snakes, or hokus pokus.

It is important to remember that the bible is an historical document. And there are numerous questions that must be asked of any such document.
On every count the bible fails the test. Did any of the gospel writers witness these miracles? No. Not one of them. Hearsay!...I could go on for hours, but I'm bored already. I'll recommend two books. First, A History of God. Secondly, Without Creed, Without God: The Origins of Unbelief.

Read them and weep (just try not to weep blood, as we really know that's possible.)

I serve a risen Saviour,
He's in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He's always near.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He live, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
Thro' all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He live, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.

Jesus loves you, philipjames! Very Happy
