You wouldn't say "I'm working at XYZ company this time next year" would you? You wouldn't use any 'this time next <time period>' expression with the present continuous.
That leads me to think there is an important difference but I don't have time to think about it any more right now. |
Right... because verbs in the present continuous are set in the Now, but are surrounded by the past and the future. They began before now and will continue into the future, but there is a distinct starting and ending point.
"I will be working at XYZ company this time next year" is fine. As is "I'm going to be working at XYZ company at this time next year."
