Harper can't do anything, first off he doesn't have the votes, there are members of his own party that would suport gay marriage, so thats a lost cause (not to mention he only has a minority). Add to that, even if he did have the votes and overturned the law the Supreme Court would overturn the law and Harper doesn't have the Cojones to use the notwithstanding clause, cause it would be the end of his political career.

The sky should fall any minute now.

I wonder if they will be partners on the beat.

Probably knows some nitwit will say something against it.

The RCMP still investigates its applicants to see if they are gay under the pretext that want to prevent an officer being blackmailed (why would an officer fear blackmail if he or she is openly gay?). Gays have been able to openly serve in the Canadian military since 1992 (I know gays that were in the Canadian military long before that).

The Canadian government took some pretty extreme measures in the past to make sure that gays didn't work in the RCMP, the military, and civil service.

Nooo!!! Really? Do tell!!!

Anyway, gay cops would make the world a better place in some respects. I imagine they would cut down on the brutality, as long as they were out of the closet and not beating people to try to show how macho they were.

The problem with Gay TV is that, all stereotypes to the contrary, not every gay person likes Will & Grace. Gay TV will be very difficult to make successful because there is so little gay content and it would cost too much to produce or buy foriegn content. Also lots of regional Cable companies in the deep south and midwest will not carry these types of channels so the millions of rural gay people in the US don't have access to this content. In Canada the two Gay channels are barely alive and undergoing massive restructuring trying to stay alive. If I had the money to invest I would start an online Gay TV channel so that anyone, anywhere in the world could subscribe and get access via PC. That would make millions, but regular Cable TV will probably not work for at least another decade.

I think the Gay TV Network went out of business because there is too much competition already.

A quick search online.. the American gay networks are 'Q Network', 'Here! TV', 'Alt1-TV', 'LOGO', and 'Triangle Television Network'. There is also in the works of Gay MTV.

Canada has 'PrideVision'.. Europe has a couple as well in Italy, France, UK.

The airwaves are probably inundated with too many already.. no one can possibly watch all the networks there are at the same time to support them all.
