Well statistically, because Koreans were sex typing their babies and killing the females (girls don't inherit and they cry more), there are a couple generations of Koreans about to enter adulthood where boys outnumber females by about 15%. When that happens, boy. You think being with your Korean GF on the subway is a problem these days. There's going to be a lot of bitter resentment directed towards the next generation of ESL teacher.

The opposite is true in Russia. There are 12 women for every 10 men because of all their wars in Chechnya and Afghanistan. Plus the fact that Russian men are notorious alcoholics and do not treat their women very well. If you're looking for women, go teach in Russia. I got dozens of text messages from girls I never met. How they got my mobile number is a mystery, but I can guess they got it from co-workers, my landlord or anyone else I knew. On one occasion a girl called me and asked me to meet her. When I asked her how she got my number, she said I had accidentally called her great aunt a few weeks before. It was a wrong number! Because I spoke English and sounded young, the aunt wrote down my number from call display and gave it to her single niece. How many Korean girls would do that and call up a stranger and ask for a date, based on a wrong number and a 5 second conversation with an elderly family member??? Very Happy

The network guy at one of my jobs married a Russian mail order bride. I thought it was weird because he had to deal a lot with Slavic people (they sold the cheapest computer parts) and he would always grumble about them. A man with no affinity for Eastern European culture suddenly at age 35 up 'n' married a 20 year old 5'9" green eyed Russian woman who looked like a runway model to me.

When she came to company parties she never made eye contact with anyone. Always looked above their heads. Part of her body language seemed to convey "this slob I'm standing next to with the green teeth is tentatively my husband. Let's be clear on that."

He tried to get her a job in our company warehouse. She worked for about 3 days and quit. She got pregnant asap, had him buy a new house, a minivan, and take her on a vacation.

Still my theory on Russian women: if I can save one leggy 19 year old blond Russian woman from marrying a guy with green teeth or a vodka swilling drunk by marrying her myself, I'd have to do it. The giving nature of my soul would compel me.

It's funny, but even after all the horror stories I've heard about Western men dating Korean women and the reactions and experiences they have from other Koreans, I've never had any reactions like this myself. I even asked one girl if she ever overheard anyone saying things about us, and she said no.

But if it will be bad for the next generation, they should learn some Korean before they get here. Some suggestions:
- "sorry if you can't handle a little competition"
- "don't blame me, blame people like your mothers for all those selective abortions"
-Etc.
(I should add a Laughing here so people know not to take this seriously and flame me).

I agree I've never experienced anything really weird vocal and confrontational with my gf. Once with another woman some old guy on the street kept walking a head of us and then sitting on a bench to look at us. Repeat. Maybe it was because she had big evil pillows. I dunno. With my current GF once we were holding hands on the Yonsei campus and some young guy made an audible sound of displeasure. And then there was the mysterious water that was dumped on us from a balcony. But maybe it was just bad timing, someone was throwing some water out their window or just a kid having fun and not really picking his target.

I wonder now... what do white male/asian female couples experience in North America? Consider a smaller town. Korea isn't very cosmopolitan and probably can be thought of as having a small town mind about many things.

"Oh, is she your slave?"

One would have to get a lot of comments.
