As everyone says, it depends on the school and the teachers there. I teach at 4 different schools a week, elementary schools, and each one is different, and how I am treated is different. But what I have figured out is that each of my co-teachers are trying to do the best by me. ( even if it isn't)

I have had to be firm when I was asked to work most of the school holidays, and I had originally been promised the two weeks...but this change of what is promised and what eventuates also occured in the Hakwon I worked at ...albeit very temporarily.

I think alot depends on our attitude to the job, and the fact that within a fortnight of coming to Korea I had 5 other job offers so could walk from the one I did not like, and I know the Education District I am at would rather I take the extra week promised then go through the expense and hassle of finding another teacher.

come over, do you best, have fun, (one comment I will make, kids in public school are just not as tired!) but stand up for yourself if it goes pearshaped, dont' just sit and moan. Smile

No one here can really say "This will happen to you, this won't happen to you." There hs been alot of really good input in this thread, but as most people have insinuated, predictions about your possible work experiences are all a matter of ifs and buts and maybes.

Good luck, enjoy your life, and remember that even a 'bad' Korean teaching job is better than waiting tables...
