COME ON GIVE US KOREA VS AUSTRALIA

Don't know how that could happen, as it's going to be Italia vs Australia.

I think its possible if Korea come second in their group and then beat Spain and Australia beats Italy in the round of 16.

Funny, a country playing above themselves (in terms of world rankings at least), with a bunch of rabid supporters behind them in Germany, and everyone is falling over themselves to support the underdog.

Korea, on the other hand......

EDIT: though I take no issue in particular with posters in this thread. Just an observation given the shear numbers of "Will Korea just lose and shut up already" threads around this forum.

EDIT 2: I hope Australia smash Italy to bits, by the way, and hope Korea topple the Swiss.

You have your groups mixed up. 1st place in G (Korea's group) plays 2nd pace in H (Spain's group). Australia is not in group H, but group F

Australia seems to be conducting themselves rather well. I don't honestly feel badly about cheering for them because I am extremely confident that if I was in Australia they wouldn't be shoving it down my throat. Australians are a pretty easy going lot in general. I can appreciate that.

I like cheering for underdogs. I will cheer for the underdog in the Korea - Switzerland game. Switzerland is ranked 35th, Korea is ranked 29th. Simple really isn't it?
I will cheer for Ghana. I always like the African teams and I hope the win the whole thing someday.
I will cheer for Spain because they always have the potential to win but they never seem to put it all together. I always cheer for them every World Cup.

Go Oz! Go Swiss! Go Spain! Go Ghana chocolate! Wink

It is a wonderful game though, regardless of who you cheer for. ^^

The FIFA WC blog described it as a "manly man's game". I'd edit that to "Neanderthals pummeling each other, while kicking a ball around." It was entertaining though, because Croatia was equally as rabid. Thug vs. thug doesn't bother me so much.

Decent match, but disappointing, because I thought the Socceroos would pull out a win.

Alas, I don't know think they'll stand a chance against Italy. It'll be interesting to see though, because Italy likes that rough-and-tumble rugby-esque BS too...

Namaste.

Give over. Italy are a bunch of vain little girls. When an Italian player goes down and the stretcher comes on, it's accompanied by someone to fix the guy's hair. Go Aussies!

It's used in Australian slang and refers to those of Mediterranean ancestry. While once a pejorative the term has lessened massively in tone over years and being 'woggy' is now regarded as something to take pride in. It causes a bit of confusion when Aussies travel to the UK as they seem to be unaware at first that wog is an offensive term for a black person in that part of the world.

Laughing

In Aus the 'wogs' refer to themselves as 'wogs'..... it was a term used many years ago after many Lebanese, Greeks, Italians migrated to Aus. Alot of them became road workers etc, they wore overalls that had WOG written on the back in big letters. ... Worker of the Government.

Its not derogatory.
