Actually, most terrorist leaders may be relatively affluent, but that doesn't necessarily hold true for the followers. Same thing for most revolutionaries. However, fundamental Islamic followers are, on average, not as wealthy as, let's say, the average English teacher in Korea. Poverty isn't the reason people do violent things, but it makes it easier to convert them to a powerful ideology that give their life meaning.

And, BV, my point about domestic violence was that not all rednecks are wife-beaters. The rest of my post mentions that my main opposition with fundamental Islamic states is the deplorable treatment of women. In fact, I think "evil" was the word I used. Or did you even freakin' read it?

I was actually agreeing with your point of view, before you became a prik about it.

I never said it was. I was disagreeing with your point that domestic violence is equal in all societies.

True, and this becomes a problem when that ideology (Islam) more readily lends itself to justifying violence than other creeds.

It does. Look at the profiles of the 9-11 terrorists and the 7/7 terrorists. They were not from poverty stricken backgrounds, and many of them were well educated and quite middle class.
