| You all want a laugh? Test your Korean students for these mistakes. Don't forget to throw in "restaurant," the most misspelt word on Google. |

Do people really say that? I haven't seen it luckily. That is by far the worse I have ever seen as they don't even sound the same. That's horrible. Though looser/loser comes in a very close second. |

typo. Rediculous is not a typo. Trust me, my English is far superior to 80% of the people here (atleast). I was writing university level essays back in grade 10 and all my university scholarships were for English essay writing (funny as I studied Computer Science with English writing scholarships ) I was actually the person everyone in computer science came to to proof read things unless they had an artsy girlfriend (and many cs students didn't have any girlfriend...).
Any who, I ain't na gonna check e'ery un o' me posts for 'em spelling 'stakes. |

Okay, but if you're going to start a thread complaining about other people's spelling mistakes, you'll have to expect people to point out your own, especially as I expect threads like this mostly attract the sort of people who like to do that.
My contribution: THERE IS NO A IN DEFINITELY. *shakes cane, mumbles about youngsters these days* |

Language is always changing. Are you upset about the loss of "thou" too? |

Yes people say ax instead of ask. However I have only heard this being used by african-americans. |

I think the most telling mistake is when people claim to be 'intellegent'.
That one always gets me. |

So, you've only been able to see it unluckily? Did that involve some damage to your retinas or other valuable parts of your eyes? Or maybe you saw it when walking under a ladder, or stepping on a crack...
The adverbs, they are a'changin'. |

This site's denizens never cease to amaze me
Ok, I'll go over the point of this thread again.
This thread is for people who are consistently spelling words wrong. I had one friend who was corrected by their student once and she felt bad about it. This thread is not about my typos or the fact that I forgot a comma. It's about consistent spelling mistakes and the fact that people obviously don't know they are spelling things wrong. I am not the spelling/grammar police and have never singled someone out in a thread just to correct their English. I just thought I would post this to help.
On page one, I already learned the difference between every day and everyday. I make mistakes too (and learn from them), but to attack someone who is trying to help people is, well, actually, normal on this site, isn't it? |
