Yes, a good read............... I don't think that spelling will ever be in need of simplification. How can you simplify something so changing??? And all those who would put language in stone are just stoned. Can't be done and all the talk of making it "easier" is way off topic. Can't be done. It is a living, changing thing. Time happens.

This about says it all -- well stated. Spelling is a very cosmetic thing and I mean that in a very neutral sense.
I do agree that MAYBE English could better use some stress marks and actual marks of pronounciation (like the Czech ^ or the Spanish (sedilla , sorry no mark on my keyboard..).
I concur with one ancient observer of language. "he who tries to better language, is forced into silence."
