Thats funny Dev..I know 4 teachers in Busan (EPIK) who absolutely love their jobs and have nothing but positive things to say about the program...

You know..broad statements are usually a bad idea.

And therein lies one of the central problems with EPIK, Homer: lack of standardization. Some teachers recieve wonderful placements, ooddles of vacation time, etc, while others get shafted.

Might not be a bad idea to compare Korea' s Epic and Gepic programes with Japans Jet and Alt programes. The Jet programe is more of be a monkey and a clown programe to show the nativers how stupid the foreigeners are. There is a 5 year limitation on the jet programe. That's a must, because it's the best paying ESL programe in Japan. Teachers in the programe complain woefully about being under used. For what they are payed though they shouldn't complain. They are paid upwards of Y300,000 a month (approximately W2,900,000). There are some discounts, but nothing like the Y80000 for housing that other institutions demand. Jet housing is free.

The Alt programe is replacing the jet programe in many places, but the pay is much lower, and the programe tries to get into and monitor your personal life as well. Have met individuals in Japan who are so disgusted with this programe that they are coming to Korea to check out Epic and Gepic

Changwon Epic gepic give bonuses to individuals who are willing to locate to country schools. The Taegu epic programe it seems were paying extra to the teachers who were doing the vacation camps.
