I hear the US may get the 2014 World Cup. Brazil doesn't have the infrastructure. Remember the 1994 World Cup had the highest attendence of any World Cups.

Yup. While Brazil might not have the infrastructure (debatable), a country like Chile could host.

Also the feeling is Europe will get every 2nd Cup so it would be back there
in 14... |
That's the old school belief. Isn't FIFA's policy now to rotate between continents? So the Americas would be in 2014, Asia 2018, etc. |

SA hosted the rugby world cup a few years back with few problems.

-because SA is a rugby nation. Likewise they'd have no problem hosting the Cricket world cup.
But Soccer? thats just not South Africa's game. They were selected simply because they're africas most prosperous country and it was time the event was held on the continent of Africa.
I'm dreading all those rich tourists being preyed upon by poverty stricken criminals. Its hate crime as well there, they don't just outnember you and demand your wallet, they actively go after you with weapons, knives etc. Even if you have nothing they put you in hospital or kill you because you're white. we're talking secure housing estates guarded with barbed wire and security patrols, don't stop at traffic lights or you get hijacked type stuff.
Great Country that it is, S.A. has a huge challenge to make the World cup possible there. i hope they do..but.. |

| Soccer is not South Africa's game? Soccer is by far the most popular sport in South Africa. |

| Why wouldn't the federation hold it in the Middle East? Qatar or UAE would welcome the Cup with open arms. They certainly have the infrastructures. Could be a boon to the region. |

They are in Asia, which probably won't see the WC until 2018. I think Qatar is too small anyway (one large city). Perhaps a Qatar-UAE-Bahrain combination would be feasible, but then all would be automatically qualified for the WC and that would be plain ugly. |
