U.S.A.

Them: oh we are a little late on your pay it's okay right?

Me: Give me my money. No money no work.

Them: Don't worry 1 week all money! It's okay?

Me: Give me my damn money NOW!

Them: Special Class money soon. New Class Monday.

Me: No pay me for the last class then I will start new class.

Them: No, No don't worry money coming soon.

Me: No, no -- no money no class.

Although I have not really had much problem. On pay day my money better be there. Not the next day, not in a week but by close of business.

I am pretty flexible. Class cancelled. Okay whatever, Can you change your schedule because gym teacher has to go to see kid graduate from some kindie hogwan. Okay whatever.

But MONEY. No flexibility. Not one day. I told my school this when I started that I will be as reasonable as I can possibly be and understand as many cultural differences as I can. But MONEY nope. It's mine, I earned it, I want it. If it's not there on payday I don't work.

It is completely beyond my comprehension that people will let their bosses get so behind in paying them. First thing I did when I got here was put aside enough money for a plane ticket out of here. Now that I am on F2 I can leave a job pretty easy.

I find people from other countries. Not saying it is good or bad are more flexible. Don't understand this. I guess Yanks (me) are a bit more serious about money. (not all but alot)

Negotiating style is definately N.A. Ask for more than you know you can get and see what they offer. Have a rock bottom you will accept and stick with it. I have been on both sides of a bargining table and so I know how to negotiate. It isn't easy here because of different rules but it can be done. I tend to negoiate for time as opposed to money. Not always exactly what I want but enough to make me happy.

Here's an online quize that gives you the result.

I'm Zimbabwe:
Quote:
Everything was going really well for you for a long time, but lately you
haven't quite been acting yourself. One day things were looking up and now you've
got all this anger, and you're taking it out on people you've decided must be at fault.
Taking their property seems to be the best way of getting back at them, but this is
making all your former friends dislike you and talk about ending your friendships.
Things could really go either way right now, but you're making enemies fast.

Now that's clever. Where the hell do you people find this stuff?

I'm....

Quote:
You're South Africa!

After almost endless suffering, you've finally freed yourself from the oppression that somehow held you back. Now your diamond in the rough is shining through, and the world can accept you for who you really are. You were trying to show who you were to the world, but they weren't interested in helping you become that until it was almost too late. Suddenly you're a very hopeful person, even if you still have some troubles.

Everyone from Dave's get's a 30% discount on World Cup tickets. PM me for pricing and transfer details.

I'm also extremely pleased to say that:

Quote:
You're Columbia University!

Somewhat rough and tumble, you're looking for the lion's share of whatever you can get your hands on. You feel utterly surrounded by chaos and noise, but at the same time have access to a good deal of culture and influence. In this chaotic setting, you attempt to be a bastion of relative calm. You adore staircases and once expressed a desire to paint your roof green.

But that's just nutty.

You're Spain!
You like rain on the plain, as well as interesting architecture and a diverse number of races and religions. You like to explore a lot, but sailing, especially in large groups, never really seems to work out for you. Beware of pirates and dictators bearing bombs. And for heavens' sake, stop running around bulls! It's just not safe!

You're a Hyena!
You have quite a sense of humor, though many others find it derisive rather than appealing. You are perceived as being a coward, but actually have moments of great bravery and have even stood up to those much larger than yourself. You like hanging out in groups and are always making a lot of noise. Disney thinks you are an idiot.

You're China!
Big and powerful, you have a long history behind you with more good
and bad than you care to remember, or are really capable of remembering. Lately, in older age, you've gotten sort of crochety and even mean-spirited. There is still a lot that's beautiful about you, but most of the focus people have when they think about you is how hard it is to work with you. There's hope that you might start opening up to
people, but lots of people have bumper stickers about how much you should change.

You're Ireland!
Mystical and rain-soaked, you remain mysterious to many people, and this makes you intriguing. You also like a good night at the pub, though many are just as worried that you will blow up the pub as drink your beverage of choice. You're good with words, remarkably lucky, and know and enjoy at least fifteen ways of eating a potato. You really don't like snakes.

I guess I'm going to go buy some red hair dye and talk funny the rest of the week. (No offense to the Irish folk)

So here I am,

You're Bosnia-Herzegovina!
You've just been through a big tragedy. You weren't sure you were going to make it at all. Now that you have, there's a lot to pick back up in your life, and not enough people are helping you. You just wanted a little more freedom, a chance to be away from those who thought poorly of you. Now it's time to build up some confidence, and it looks like you have a good chance at that. But you'll need a lot of therapy.
---------
That was strangely accurate. *cringe* I wish I had a better flag, though.

I am like

NEW ZEALAND: although i am just one foreign teacher at a small school i make my opinion and requests concise yet firm
i have a decent amount of allies that can help when things get a little dicey but for the most part can cope well independently
i pick my battles and most of the time things are good
and like NZ's stance on nuclear power and the war in iraq i dont back down on what is important to me

btw...usually things are like Jamaica (i think a few can identify with this one) Cool Cool

if it comes to not getting money or something like that it then goes to agressive negotiations like the US in Iraq (but that has never been a problem for me)

but if you ask blue pyramid i am THAILAND Wink Razz

took that country quiz....I am

You're Cambodia!
Life's been really rough, but it's slowly improving. You know way too much about the skeletal structure of humans, mostly from being forced to study it. This has given you a fear of many things, most especially the color red. The future has to be more promising though, and your greatest adversary can now never come back to hurt you any more.

This doesn't exactly make sense to me and it so isn't what I am about....I'm not sure I can say I am one country or another. I think my problem is that I don't pay attention to a lot of world politics or something, I don't see things like the other postes in this thread I'm not sure how they are coming up with the descriptions.... Confused Confused Confused

Personally I liked their animal quiz...now this one makes sense Razz

You're a Stuffed Animal!
Everybody loves you, though most of them are truly ashamed to admit it. You love children most of all, though you're not really all that expressive of your emotions. You're not terribly active, and end up spending altogether too much time in bed, although most people secretly suspect that you really love to take trips and travel around. A kid at heart, you'd be a lot better off if no one ever grew up. You are most annoying when stuffed into the back of a car.

You're Italy!
You pretty much feel like you are the most long-standing bastion of civilized humanity on the face of the earth. While this is probably not true, you do have a noted history of living the good life and spreading culture to those around you. More recently, however, things have started to slide and you're having a hard time staying together and not getting beaten up. People still like to ask you how it was to be the center of high culture, but your days at the top are long past you. Avoid volcanoes, flooding, and unstable buildings wherever possible.

Shocked Shockingly accurate.

No headbutting please.
