And what urks me more is that I just worked there last year....what?? did my degree expire?? |

Honestly,
I think it is time for our governments to get involved.
In 2001 or 2002, Korean immigrations weren't taking degrees from 3-year institutions from places like New Zealand or Australia. But the New Zealand Prime Minister came and persuaded Korea to drop that policy.
To me, it is not the government that should be doing this, it should be the schools. The schools should be the ones who should be carrying out this quality-control policy for the sakes of their schools' reputations.
Once it becomes an immigration issue, then our governments should directly get involved.
I know I have little support for this, but I think it is time to get in contact with our State Department and our Foreign Ministers to confront Korea with this unfair policy.
Or at least have their immigration officers follow uniform policy in regards to visa issuance.
Look at Taiwan, they had a big problem with fake degrees. They did everything from degree verification, require teachers to have teaching certificates in their home countries and no online Master Degrees would be accepted to weed out the crooked teachers there.
Now look at them, they are now screaming for teachers to teach there. It would only be a matter of time before Korea falls into the same boat.
I think I will see a big jump in the amount of people who will begin to teach there privately. At least the money would be better..... |

We had transcripts refused today as they were 5 months old. We were told by Mokdong Immigration that they must be less than 3 months old now.
The teacher applying for the job had previously (Feb) purchased 5 copies of transcripts.
US$75 down the drain!
We will try again tomorrow with another official...who knows with these muppets!
I just don't have the energy with these idiots anymore! |
Has anyone else experienced this? I just sent my documents yesterday to my new school (also in Mokdong). My transcripts are over a year old! |

Hmm....I gave the recruiter a transcript that was well over a year old.I don't remember the University dating it though,so Immi would be none the wiser.
My recruiter is pretty lackadaisacal about telling me stuff though.....
Anyway, whats the purpose of this thing??How easy do they think it is to get it done if you're not in your home country?
At least regarding criminal checks you can simply provide a check done in Korea so long as you've been here for a while. |

Just an update.
The teacher whom had her transcripts refused for submitting ones 5 months old has now been allowed to submit them. Same office, same official.
I am none the wiser. |
