Thanks. It could be we haven't bumped into that ceiling. Of course the education office has a general idea of our enrollment. Perhaps that number gets passed on to Immigration. I'll have to do a little digging.

I just spoke with the person who does the hiring for our company.
She said that every time she hires a new teacher, she must submit changes in enrollment to immigration. She said they would not allow her to hire a new teacher without a proper student/teacher ratio.

I don't know how well immigration checks these things out though, the school I worked at last year definately couldn't afford me. They did not have enough students. Perhaps that explains why my visa was 3 months delayed?


Not that it was any great help getting the visa........the school still couldn't afford me and I would have been better off without one.

No. There is no "letter of release". if such a thing exists, it is a note from your employer that you show to immigration when you go to cancel (and be released from) your E2.

So long as your E2 has been nullified at immigration with the assistance of its original sponsor, you are free to find a new job. make sure its a good one so you can call them occasionally to let them know how much more money you're on and how much better conditions you have.

This is why we need more info from the OP.
Some immi offices still use LORs. Some require you and the sponsor to visit in person to cancel it.
Also, if the sponsor makes a claim that you acted illegally, or damaged his business, you can be prevented from getting a new VISA. This is not easy for him to prove, but this IS Korea.

So, if the sponsor has made such a claim against the OP, and there is indeed a mark on her immi file, then she will need it revoked.

Yes, there is a cap on the number of teachers that can receive sponsorship from any particular school at any particular time. It's a common rule for all the Asian countries I've worked in.

Any news from Cerriowen??
