Hi Marathe,
Don't have the same complaints as you about the gym, but what I have had that really bugs me is people competing with me. I get on the tread mill, someone gets on next to me, and starts looking at my speed, and matches it. I do an interval workout, so i'm changing speed all the time, and whatever I do,they do. It's really weird. Sometimes I wish I had the strength to set her way up and go forever and watch them fall off trying to keep up. To me workind out is personal, and non-competitive so this does peeve me sometimes. The good thing is, is that i'm no hero, but I still win every time. Razz

This is funny. I've had a sort of similar experience, but at the elementary school yard where I go jogging--and where there are a lot of people that go walking. (Actually, I've had no probs at the gym at all.) I pretty much do the same number of laps every night, at the same pace. A few times I have had women and men who normally seem to be just walking come up and suddenly start running alongside me at the exact same pace, or a bit quicker. Usually they stop before me though.

One time I had a little girl come up alongside me and do the same. She just wouldn't give up and kept running next to me and then she fell down. I stopped and tried to help her up, but I think she was embarassed and ran away.

yeah and the guys who come to grab your muscles whist you're working out drive me insane - last time someone did that I was doing about 75 kilos on tricep pressdown - i put the weight down and spun on the guy screaming at him to get away from me - he couldn't figure out why i was upset - i could tell by his face. Mook.

And the weights thing - crucifiction isn't a fair punishment for these dopes who leave their weights - its a 5 kilo for the love of all thats holy - pick it up and move it out of my way so i don't trip on it.

poor genetic code is the only reasoning i can see behind this.

Haha- yeah , korean curiosity at waegook's bodies seems to peak in the gym. Which is why they feel free to walk over and touch you and move your legs into what they consider to be the best posture. They absolutely do my nut in too.Especially when they casually adjust the amount of weights you're about to lift by moving the pin down a couple of notches.
However the story of the previous poster supports the theory that most of the time it is their way of being friendly: they don't realise that invading your space is one of the most irritating things you can do to a westerner. What they mean as friendly help, we take as annoying interference.

I'm with Sweetbear on women's sauna woes. All of the neck craning as I walk by nude is frustrating, especially when women take their 8 year old boys in there. I get young boys standing there gawking while I'm in the shower. It is also the worst time for people to try to practice their english, but it happens. She is right; nothing is pretty in there, and most of the women get down on their knees and scrub each other with an exfoliating mitt. Scrubbing one's crotch with a brillo pad can't be healthy. Why don't they just go ahead and pour some bleach on it while they are at it?

Like Dogbert, I am also confused about the blowdrying of the pubic region.

All of the clothes women wear to work out is funny as well: panty hoes, leg warmers, 2 pairs of socks, biker shorts, regular shorts, 2-3 shirts and a head band. Is this to lose water weight or look 'sporty'?
