Cerriowen,

So, your boss didn't harm your chances of getting a new job, then?

Why didn't you update us on your situation with him. Or did you? A lot of us took our time giving you advice and asked you to keep us informed.

What happened?

Milwaukiedave,

Perhaps my NAZi reference was out of line. If I offended anyone, I apologize. Slimeballs, criminals--- whatever names you want to use--- it all comes down to the same thing. Why trust any hagwon owner who has not proven him/herself trustworthy?

My point was this: Have rules and stick to them. If there must be a visa run--- and I still think we should get our visas in our own country--- then let them pay for it. They need us much more than we need them.

Once we realize this very important point, then we can finally begin to cut down on the negative experiences and visa problems.

Steve.

Very strangee I have never had a problem with a visa run. Though I have heard an urban legend that if they really want to get rid of you quickly they send you on a visa run with no return ticket.

I got a job with a place that I think will be different.

They really wanted me, and I really wanted it. It's not a typical teaching job. I have a B.S. in Security Intel and went to a military college. It's teaching english to officers in the Korean Military Intelligence.

It's governement (obviously) so it'll be more bureaucratic bull to deal with, but I'm used to that. Fortunately my students will want to learn.

I told the person who hired me what happened w/ my last boss, and he said it wasn't a problem.

I'm more inclined to believe him because he has nothing to gain by getting me hired. I mean, sure he needs a teacher, but he's not making extra money off of it.

And... I'm fairly sure that the military won't be going out of business Smile
