I would recommend Kyungju and Pulgoksa.

Well worth the trip.

3-4 days in Korea would be just enough to visit this and perhaps spend some time in Seoul.

My brother has been living in Japan for over 8 years and on his first visit here (korea) he and his wife (Japanese) loved it.

Part of it was meeting me and my wife but they spent a week traveling around Korea on their own and loved it.

To each his own.

I would say Korea is worth a visit if you have a friend here who can show you around. Otherwise, it would be a bit tough I think to get around without knowing any Korean and without being able to read Hangul. Korea is not really a tourist destination and not so well-equipped to deal with the average tourist.

I think that some areas are not so well-equipped but that others are very easy to get around. Most tourist areas have signs in English. The subways in the larger cities have maps in English, station annoucements in English.

A person who is willing to travel all over asia would certainly not find Korea a tough place to navigate in my opinion.

It is however not as tourist friendly as some other places...for me thats a plus!

if u are in japan.. i'd just take a ferry over to busan for a few days. at least you can checkmark Korea as a place you've more or less stepped foot in anyways.

This is right....stay a few days, visit an anma, puke on the street, eat some sticks and twigs, knock down random strangers.
Korean culture experienced, and that oh so important extra visa stamp which makes the ladies go gooey in more civilised places.

If you only have 3-4 days you may only have time for Seoul and Suwon and then 2-3 days would be enough. Namdamun pales in comparison to Thai markets. Personally, I don't think it'd be worth it but I may be biased because I think that Korea is the armpit of Asia.
