One of you laughed at that. If you didn't, then this is your punishment:

I remember visiting my grandparents in 1984 in Los Altos, Caliornia, and we saw the Iran-Iraq soccer match at..Stanford, I think...

I still have a couple of Olympic smurf figurines that they sold there.

Funniest thing I've read in awhile here. And yes, he did inspire me to do just that.

Ok...how many Olympics have you watched while in Korea? I've watched 2 summer ('00 and '04) and 2 winter ('98 and '02). Wasn't it the '98 Olympics where N and S Korea marched in together?

Summer, 2000. Australia.

(And it was about as genuine as the Jane's Addiction or EPMD reunions.)

1968, Grenoble, France. I was 6.

One night, after I had been sent to bed, while my parents, older brothers and sister watched the Olympics, I got up quietly, not waking my younger brother (always a sound sleeper), snuck downstairs skipping the squeeky step on the stairs (downhill skiing), belly crawled along the hall floor (biathlon) so I wouldn't be seen in the parlor mirror, quietly (again) took a chair from the dining room (weightlifting), put it against the stove in the kitchen, climbed up and onto the stove (gymnastics) to open the kitchen cupboard and sneak some Starburst candies (Gold Medal!). The cupboard door stuck and when I pulled a little harder to open it, I lost my balance and fell off the stove (DQ). I split my head open and needed stitches at the hospital.

That's how I remember the Grenoble Olympics.
