But isn't that how you think of the U.S.? or Canada? or wherever it was your parents moved to from Korea? See any parallels with the Mexican migrant workers there? |
No not at all... I love Canada. And so do my parents.
Of course I moved to the US 5 years ago, but that doesn't change anything. I love California... cool place to live.
You won't see me whining and complaining about where I CHOOSE to live. |
We will see you whining and complaining about everything else, though.
Interesting. I know a kyopo who whines constantly about living in Orange County, because there are too many white people there.
California used to be a nice state to live in, too. |

And where do you get that impression?
Hey, just cuz I was able to make it here, don't get all mad at me.
Sheesh... this is the land of opportunity! All you need is some brains and a decent education.
Oh... I thought so. |

First of all.... why do you call me "kyopo" like it's an insult?
Anyway, if what I am saying is so ridiculous then why do you guys take such offence to it? |

Generally though, 99% of the time, any American/Canadian/Aussie/Kiwi/Western European is pretty much free to come and go in and out of Korea as they please.. if they don't like it here and stay.. its kind of weird behavior in my opinion.. |
And that's exactly my point. |
I don't understand the point?
I think many westerners are here by choice... I know I am.. third time I've made this choice.. and its better and better here everytime.. I could be anywhere, and over the last 7 years I've been many places.. but I choose to be here.. because I like being here..
I can't speak for the complainers and haters.. but I know on this board, there aren't that many.. if thats your point.. why are they here? and i don't know.. i'm with you on that one..

The point was that it's WEIRD BEHAVIOUR (Canadian spelling) "if they don't like it here and stay".
You're obviously not one of them, but it seems like there sure are a lot of 'em on this board. |

I hear you.. there are alot of them.. I try to challenge them as well.. actually I think there are quite a few westerners that challenge them..
Incidently, most of them seem to be Canadians that complain.. but ironically some of the ones that challenge the haters are also Canadian.. actually, i've noticed a weird relationship on anti-american posts as well.. usually attacked and defended by Canadians..
But anyhow.. by and large.. outside of that.. I think most foreigners posting on these boards choose to be here and happy about it.. for one reason or another.. |

I guess it's all the Maritimers that have come to Korea for some odd reason. I had no idea so many people from the maritimes went to Korea to teach english. The economy there must be really really hurtin'.
I was just about to start spreadin' some more generalizations about Canadian Maritimers but I stopped myself. This can end up going on forever. |

Whats a Canadian Maritimer? I haven't heard that expression.. actually, I'm not a Canadian.. I just noticed that Canadians seem to be the most anti-korean and anti-american significantly more than anyone else.. but to the good side, I've noticed most Canadians defend both of these two groups from the ones who are really too much on the anti-this-and-that..
For myself however, I'm not Canadian.
What is a Canadian maritimer? Just curious.. |

Someone from the maritime regions of Canada. Like Nova Scotia, New Brunswick.... the provinces on the Eastern shoreline. |

It's someone from the Maritime Provinces (ie - the East Coast) of Canada.

Big time, especially considering several of us are Maritimers, don't hate the US, don't hate Korea either, and left good jobs back home to come here.
Those who complain all the time about the US - and hate Korea (I'm not talking about occasional venting, I mean full-on hate), find strong opposition from me.
Tiger's right that so many of us Canadians are the loudest ones in shouting down the anti-Americans and anti-Koreans. I won't speak for others, but I know in my my case, they embarrass me. |
