return obviously.

Anyways, whypaymore's site certainly entices. However, it doesn't help much when they hang up on you as soon as you say "hello." It also doesn't help much when you phone back the next day speaking Korean, tell them in Korean that you're a foreigner with limited Korean skills and then they hang up on you again.

Flew to Toronto last september (we left on Sept 1st).

We paid 970 000 Won per ticket (return).

Was supposed to go this summer but we had to delay that. We are going to TO Dec. 4th...cost: 1 million won per ticket...return.

These flights involve two plane changes (Tokyo and Detroit or St-Paul or L.A.-Chicago or Tokyo, Chicago). We have no wait at the airports as we transfer from plane to plane (by no wait I mean there is about one hour between flights so enough time to get off the plane, make it to your gate and get on).

Of course if you accept nothing but direct flight (ex: Inchon-TO) then expect to pay more my friend....

Chuseok is peak season so prices will rise.

Other high times for travel: From December 10th to January 10th, From Late May to Mid August and around Lunar New year.

Other periods you can get deals just like back home. You need to figure out when high season starts and leave before that.....

Good luck.

Sounds good in theory but most Korean bosses don't understand why you can't take your holidays during Korean holidays...to save them money of course.

Cheapest I'm getting quotes on for Chusok is $1650.00 CDN plus taxes. No deals to be had, it seems.

Cool thank you for the answer. I was beginning to worry that my boss was going to burn me on the ticket price. Our agreement is 750,000 in lieu of a one way ticket. She seemed very eager to use that exact number instead of "two week advance" in September.

Well that would really depend on where you worked I suppose and what vacation you have....

The best prices for flights is on www.whypaymore.co.kr

I just returned from a summer trip to Montreal and I paid 1.17 million won return - yes, that's not a typo, under 1.2mil.

Of course, I had to do the milk run, stopping in Tokyo and JFK with a few hours wait between flights. Also, I had to fly with American Airlines - the worst service I've ever gotten with an airline. Case in point, they gave us a cardboard box for our 1 year old baby which we had to put on the floor in front of us for the whole flight from Japan to JFK (12 hours!)

That being said, I've yet to hear of a better rate.

Well you certainly win the prize for the best price but was it worth it? Sounds to me like you were in transit about 18 hours and with a 1 year old no less. And a carboard box-no bassinet for the baby? I dunno, there comes a point where quality overcomes price in making a decision. But maybe that's just me.

Last year we flew Northwest and had a very good experience. They are horrible on the domestic routes but with the asian routes service is very good (in our experience anyway).

The air crew were very helpful and the food was..well its airline food and we bring our own anyway!

No delays, no problems with luggage....they air crew were super nice to our son. We used Northwest a few times.

We also used JAL and got similar prices. This upcoming trip we booked with JAL in fact.

Who did I talk to...our agent here...lol.

I also used whypaymore a couple of times and Kangsam travel.

Poker player....the transit time you mentionned is pretty much par for the course mate. For example, we are from Busan so it requires one flight to get to Seoul if we were to pay the higher fee for a ticket to TO direct from Inchon.

Also, you may be flying alone but when you fly with your wife and son the costs ad up...so price becomes a much more important issue.

The direct flight to TO is mostly operated by AC and I would not take that airline again if they paid me...

KAL also does the route but the price is high...

Look into Singapore airlines and Nippon Airlines. Both have great service and offer reasonable rates.

My wife has a return ticket Ottawa-Inchon for Chusok. $1200 CDN + taxes.
She got it from a Chinese travel agent who booked her on AC/JAL flights.
She booked a month ago so I doubt you can still get this sort of price, but here's the contact info if you want to give it a shot:

For Christmas I'd say that's not bad. I paid $1250 (well my school did...) for an indirect one way to Vancouver last Christmas.

I knew about the transit times (not 18 hours, BTW), which I was ok with. I didn't know about the terrible service (cardboard box) I was going to get. Had I known about the terrible service (whypaymore assured us they had reserved a basinette seat - which we got - but American sh1tlines didn't have real basinettes on the flight - hence the box), I obviously would've chosen another airline...

I'll use whypaymore again, but not with North American carriers.
