There is no one thing that's a big turn-off. Korea affects each person differently depending on their personality and life experience before coming. Inexperienced people, those who haven't traveled much, and who are more rigid and demanding in their home countries, have the most trouble here. Those with a high tolerance for ambiguity, an ability to "shrug it off", do better--to a varying degree.

If they expect things to be run as they were in the home country, they will be dissappointed and exasperated. If they can "go with the flow", they do much better.

Of course, it helps to have bosses who aren't trying to screw you. Wink
I've been lucky in that regard. Housing, co-workers, and Korean staff at your school will probably have the most effect on your experience here since those are the things/people you will encounter most often.

Try not to worry too much and take the negative stuff you see here on Dave's with a grain of salt.
