For some reason, I find the blues a pick-me-up, especially piano and big band blues blues. Here's a long list of favorite blues tunes of all types, many recorded more than 50 years ago. Most of you will have heard of exactly none of them:

True, but I'm going through your list and liking what I hear. Cheers. |

"Break My Stride"- Mathew Wilder (80's one hit wonder)
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down, oh no
I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground, oh no
I got to keep on moving |

Gone at last - Paul Simon
<I've had a long, streak of that bad luck but I'm prayin' it's gone at last>...
damn...that song will always make me shwake
Come on feel the Illinoise -Sufjan Stevens...
I'm not sure why this one picks me up. I think I just like hte time signature and drumming it with my hand...helps me forget how terrible I feel.
Hole in your roof - Augie March
I just really like the lyrics :
What did the condemned say, to the blessed when they met on the path
Oh you take the road and I'll take hte high for a laugh.
(but if I'm laugh now it's because I've a gentle heart"
because it was true
He jumped through the hole in your roof
<I think my computer is gonna crap |

On My Own - Ulrich Schnauss, from Sasha's Involver, which in my humble opinion is the greatest mix album in history.
For those of you unfamiliar with Ableton Live software, this album is a real glimpse into the future of digital editing and mixing. |

The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace
| Quote: |
And ther was no sound at all
But the clock upon the wall
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my mama's face
And he brushed her tears away |

Yes, this song picks me up because its references to "the east side of Chicago" (known to all Chicagoans as "Lake Michigan") are so funny.

I heard "Weapon of Choice" today, and I think it's, dare I say it, even peppier.
I also LOVE Spirit of the West's "Home for a Rest." It's a frickin' anthem for many of us Canucks. It reminds me of being a teenager in the drive-through at Wendy's, hollering this song at the top of our lungs, causing the kids in the kitchen laugh and give us free food. |

Unfortunately some friends and I were listening to Great Big Sea a lot around the time Viagra first came out, and one friend suggested this as the new Viagra theme song. I've never been able to listen to it with a straight face since... |
