Not to mention hiding an unprecedented amount of invaluable and unique historical documents/texts deemed "heretical" in its libraries that NO ONE was/is allowed to see.

*beep* 'em.

My dad was one of the librarians at his seminary (nope, he never intended on becoming a priest. It was just cheap education for a poor farm boy.) He told me that the library had locked cabinet of 'heretical' texts (basically 150 or so modern novels that were banned by the Vatican). It said it was very popular with the Jesuit teachers.

My mom's unverisity was run by nuns. She said that some nuns would stay up all night, pacing up and down the hall at the dorm because they were afraid that girls would bunk together. My mom thought it was very hypocritical of them considering the fact that "many nuns were lesbians".

Yeah, you can guess that my parents never dragged me to church. I once told my mom, jokingly, that I wanted to go to church. She told me to walk because she wasn't about to waste gas on the trip. Laughing

As for French language schools being catholic, that came to a screeching ended more than 20 years ago when teachers began refusing to teach bible classes. Two of my father's friends, local representatives of the teachers's union, were the one's responsible for getting that ball rolling.

My experience must have happened just before that. I have to say it reassures me that is was teachers who began refusing, not so much a top down decision.

all funds should be going to the public schools. The Catholics want to raise their children in ignorance, fine, pay for it. Also, there are obviously a lot of Catholic teachers in the public school system (the kind who keep religion personal), but I wonder how many non-Catholic, or God help them, Athiestic teachers are in the Catholic system Smile

If you don't like the Canadian Constitutional safeguard, move to a real country, dumba ss

Or change it. Personally, my choice, while more difficult, is the better option.
