I think Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey sounds a lot like Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready. Although I suppose they both just come from gospel standard. Bob Marley also borrowed this for One Love.

I don't get that one at all. They sound very different to me.
The classic one is George Harrison's My Sweet Lord, and, He's So Fine by The Chiffons. I think Harrison lost the court case for that one and paid the damages. They do sound virtually identical. |

If we include ripping oneself off, mention should be made of John Fogerty, possibly the only artist to have to defend himself against a self-plagerism lawsuit, for his solo The Old Man Down The Road ripping off Run Through The Jungle, a song he did with CCR. |

He did win the lawsuit.

He (Fogarty) didn't prove that those songs were different to me.
what is the lagal term, when you argue that if even if everything that is argues against you is true, you are still innocent.
is it summary dismissal or something.

Really? If you want to break it down, I guess there's not too much in common aside from the drum beats really, but I thought it was a deliberate homage when I first heard it. It's all in the drum beats. |

| Has anyone mentioned the Rolling Stones yet? They've got a good 50 songs that all sound the same to me. Good music, but basically one formula that has worked for a long time. |
