I like Craig Ferguson as well. He's pretty funny.

My favorite comedian is Robin Willams. He's hysterical.

Bill Hicks is awesome, and so is George Carlin.

My favourite comedy is the American version of Whose Line is it Anyway.

That's a good question. Lisa Lampanelli is pretty hilarious. But I think she'll get boring really quickly. Jon Stewart maybe we don't think of as a comedian but he is. He's right up there funny. Phil Hartman was a big talent. The cast of the Kids in the Hall need a mention.

I hate Dennis Miller.

Martin Lawrence's "You so Crazy" is the best from the 90's, even better than Chris Rock.

Eddie ruled in the 80's with Delirious.

Pryor is God to all stand up comedians.

As for the 2000s, seems like the sad state of the world, and technology, has brought about the ultra-sarcastic, reactive whitey, like Daily Show and the Colbert Report. Both are getting a little long in the tooth, starting to get that played out feel a bit. Maybe they need a second wind.

Right now, I think Bill Maher is killing. And Chris Rock is still going strong.

Garrison Keillor should be added in to the lists above.

Carlin is a genius!

I think so too. You should hear his new cd "Life Is Worth Losing." With every new gig he does, I think he's plateaued, but then he comes out with even better stuff. I don't know how he does it. He's a genius.

Among the old SNL crew, I also like Phil Hartman.

For movies, John Candy was priceless too.

I think some of the funnier stuff comes out of drug use. Carlin rants likes he's on coke. Robin Williams, well, he's a bipolar freak. Richard Pryor did enough for 100 years. Eddie Murphy, Phil Hartman, Chappelle, I am sure lots of drugs have gone through those guys.

It's still funny stuff of course, just with a little medical assistance. Some very funny people have some, er, problems, mental, addictive, whatever.

Most of these suggestions are old skool, but if you're looking for someone who's doing something really new, look up David Cross.

Bob Newhart has a certain claim to sanity.

Robin Williams and Jonatham Winters obvious grey matter issues.

Rodney be Rodney.

You can't get good comedy from normal.

David Cross wasn't he one of the X-Files characters?

Just checked out everything of his I could find on youtube. Final analysis, not very funny. Too intellectual and seriously lacks charisma and delivery. No way I put him with greats like Pryor or Willams or Lawrence...

Richard Pryor is and was the king, hands down. Bill Hicks was good, but he was no genius--he would have had a field day in terms of material derived from politics in the last 10 years.

However, I gotta give props to Don Rickles, David Brenner, Patton Oswalt, Nick Dipaulo, Dick Capri, George Burns, Jack E. Leonard, and Jackie Mason.
