Three year degrees are fine, you don't need any other bit of paper but the one you got from your varsity (assuming it's a real one in the first place).

I used my three year degree in order to get my visa but have since graduated with honours so I now technicaly have a four year degree.

Will someone please answer these 2 questions for me????

1. What does it say on these "3-year" diplomas?
2. How does anyone know just by looking at a diploma how many years it took you to get it?

If it says you have a BA on the diploma, then how does anyone know how long it took you to get it. Is there also some law in England, Australia, and NZ, that requires you to get the degree in exactly 3 years NO EXCEPTION?????? I can not imagine that in those countries there are not people who take extra heavy course loads and break classes etc. and finish a degree faster than others. I also can not imagine that in those countries you do not have students that: (a) are part-time students, (b) fail some classes, (c) change major, (d) take off time for pernsal reasons (e.g., get sick, have a baby), etc. and as such will need more than three years to get the degree.
If I don't get the answers here, I guess I can always email my dissertation advisor back in the USA. She is originally from Australia. Boy I miss her accent Embarassed

Immigration like to act funny ever so often. I was here in 1990 and even then it was a four year degree requirement on the books. You don't have to be too bright to know that in most of Canada and the U.S. that it takes 4 years to do a B.A. Nor does one have to be too bright too know that most other Western countries issue a B.A. after three years.

Next thing you don't have to be too bright to know that the countries that issue a B.A. after three years of Uni have a extra year requied to graduate high school. The places that require four years of Uni before they will issue a B.A. have a shorter number of years required to pass high school.

Immigration here isn't like Japan where they try to promote their country. Here they try their hardest to give Korea a bad image by playing silly games. So is life here!

hey there

Just to point out my own experience. I didnt even finish high school, and I have a bachelors degree. From what i know in New Zealand, there is nothing that requires you to do a set amount of years at a high school. Some degrees dont require a "high school diploma" to enter into the course. Now before anyone says my degree is probably in "the art of book binding", i have one in public relations and advertising. (maybe thats just as useful!) anyway, i dont think it matters how many years you do, as long as the piece of paper gets you somewhere.

In NZ under a normal credit load it takes 3 years to get a bachelor's degree. You can do it in a shorter or longer time though. On paper it just says 'Bachelor of ....'.

Dear Crazykiwi I was talking about the normal setup. Considering that I left high school half way through third year and bypassed three years of Uni by starting Uni in fourth year as a Grad Dip student then I think I'm in the know on what you are talking about!

Thanks gang ah jee. I thought no one would ever answer my questions. So, it looks like I was right. A BA is a BA is a BA. So, if the original poster says nothing about how long it took to get it (which in my opinion means nothing) then there should be no problems.
