I applied for it a year ago.

All they(British embassy in Korea) asked for was my passport and bank balance. I had about 10 million won in the account at the time, that was fine. No interview was needed. The embassy doesn't do any visa processing after 12. The Korean woman there tried to give me a hard time presumably because I'm ethnically Korean, but the British staff gave me the visa without any problems once they saw my Australian passport. I saw them really grilling the Korean students though!

Now I'm in London amongst million other aussies, kiwis and south africans doing temp work here and there. Work is relatively easy to come by although probably not in your chosen profession. You can work full-time for 12 months within your 2 year stay or work longer if you only do part-time work.

Several people have written that they "needed" X amount of NZ or Australian dollars.

How did you get these figures??

The only information I could get was that they want to see that you have enough money to support yourself for a couple of months without working, buy a plane ticket home, enough for a medical emergency, etc..

I couldn't get any actual numbers. Hence, my original post.

Perhaps things have changed.

Anyway, the stated amounts are pretty low. So I guess I should be ok.

hmm...it should say on the embassy website how much cash you need in your bank account....I can't look at it via the link you pasted, for some unknown reason....

No. It doesn't.

I don't know why the link won't work. But if you want to see the website, google "British embassy Seoul". It should be the first one on the list. Then click "go to visa section". Then click "working holidaymakers". A list of all the required documents will come up.

I have been all over this website and I couldn't find any exact numbers.

Anyways, from what I've been reading it seems like I have enough money.

Well, perhaps they don't interview everyone. But it does say on the website that you will be contacted to arrange an interview when your application is received. Hopefully I won't have to, as I'll have to take a whole day off work to go up to Seoul.
