| I admire Lincoln....but I don't think I'd be any good at running the ROK. |

Most people who want to appear respectable in politics claim to admire Lincoln, such is his iconic status in America and indeed around the world. The only real exceptions are neo-Confederate partisans, who make the obvious objections, and sophmoric leftists who think they're being real edgy by pointing out that he actually didn't like blacks very much. |

I think you might be over-analyzing my post. I was just commenting on why Roh's admiration for Lincoln might be shared by conservatives. Overall, I admire Roh, for thumbing his noses at the Confucian stuffshirts who diss anyone who didn't go to a good univeristy, and yes, for his human rights work. And I like some of the stuff he's done as president, a lot more than I'd probably like the stuff that the GNP would be doing.
Just don't think he's a very competent politician, is all. |

His human rights background is something to be very much admired, not meaningless at all. I was just suggesting that admiring Abraham Licoln is a platitude used by many politicians. Saying one "admires Abraham Lincoln" seems to be similiar to saying one is "peace-loving" or "supports democracy". |
