Don't bother booking hotels prior to going to Thailand. It is soooooo easy to find cheap accommodation while you are there. You don't have to do anything except appear lost for 5 minutes and people will be falling over themselves trying to get you to stay at their place.
Seriously, just get your flight, get there, and everything else will take care of itself.

This is true!

I've been to Thailand several times within the past few years (twice this year, from Korea) and can confirm that it's easy to take care of accommodations once down there.

To be sure, it helps to know what you're doing, but even without prior experience--trust me--you can do it.

On my last trip down, some six months ago, I was so jaded that I took nothing more than a shoulder bag, and didn't even bother with reservations in advance.

Flew into BKK, arranged a first-night hotel at the airport help desk, and took it from there.

Piece of cake. Thailand's that simple. NO worries at all, my friend!

That's the way to do it. Travel light.
Things are cheap there - buy what you need.
